The free exchange of ideas can be dated all the way back to biblical times. And since that time it has since grown, blossomed and is now wounded and dieing. How was this behemoth slaughtered? It is simple, in excess nothing can survive.

Lets look at the birth of this creature, going back to its original mother, the human mind. The human mind craves information truth or fictional. Which lead to the epiphany that no man can devote conquest on all knowledge. Then the free exchange of ideas was born. Its first stage of growth was in the form of the Forum. Now at this point the only exchange that could be credited was that of scholars and philosophers, this hurt the Forum because of its inability to listen to those not as accredited. Yet it also weeded out crack pot ideas.

Now the free exchange of ideas grew and started to be the basis of governments and built kingdoms. The Forum became wider, more and more could speak their mind and be heard. This was the constant path of the Forum until the creation of the World Wide Web. I am in no way saying that the World Wide Web is a big monster that is killing the world. I am in no way saying that. The World Wide Web has connect us and has saved millions and alerted the world of wrong doings, but it has also done more.

I know it is a faux pas to say this but out in the world there are some people that really shouldn't use their voice. I am talking about the racism the sexism the ignorance and the stupidity of the world. This is something that not many people say but most of us know. That stupidity has won the majority because more and more people have heard it and it has spread like wild fire. I am not saying that going on YouTube and watching a dog ride a skateboard is bad. I am saying that it's funny and there is nothing wrong about it. But when a racist with video camera goes on a racist rant, and then is able to place it where the entire world can see it, I am saying that is wrong. I know in America we believe strongly in freedom of speech. But I believe even stronger in the freedom of kind speech. Speech that doesn't reflect the ugliness of humanity.

That is the Death of the Open Forum, when the worst part of man kind can be seen and heard all over the world and accepted as truth that is when the free exchange of ideas starts to die.
